Ushuaia

Vacations

As usual, I'm not updating my blog with the correct frequency. Let-me talk a little bit about my last vacation.

At the end of July I spent a few days at Ushuaia (Argentina), the city at the end of the world. Was an amazing experience. It's the southernmost city in the globe (not considering the scientific base stations on Antarctic).

You can do a lot of winter sports, off road tracks and get tired (or not) of all the great landscape present everywhere. Visiting the Beagle channel in a kind of boat called Catamaran you can see a very small island full of sea lions, birds and others animals. Check my pictures and you can have an idea what I'm talking about.

I won't talk about what you can or see in Ushuaia because the list is very big and you can find lots of posts and forums with it, but I high recommend a trip to Ushuaia.

Rome

Work trip to Rome

During the month of november, I spent a month in Rome/Italy. Besides one weekend in Florence, I needed to stay all the time in Rome for work reasons. It gave me the opportunity to know more or less how the city is seen by somebody who is living there, something that we normally don't have the opportunity to do during vacations.

Rome is very different from what I was imagining. Is a very wide city, with just some few tall buildings. At first, the old downtown may seen  in a very poor shape, but you need to remember that thousands years passed since those buildings were built.

The roman people is always complaining about the traffic, what is very funny for somebody who comes from São Paulo, like me.  If you have few time to spent, visit the old center. If you have more time, try the neighborhood more far from the turistics places. Rome is a very beautiful city.

The italian food is wonderful, and Florence (the only city I had time to visit, besides Rome) is fantastic. Looks like a medieval city, with castle, bridges, churches, and everything you can expected from a old european city.

Vacation 2012 - Cusco, Peru

I went to Peru during my last vacations at july, in the beautiful region of Cusco, where the once powerful Inca civilization builded their empire and where the spanish conquerors started their fight! Take me some time to choose the pictures, so I didn't posted about it before.

As you can see into the pictures, is an amazing place to go, but can be somehow savage for some people. If you like big cities and people serving you at your table, maybe Peru is not the place for you.

The biggest tour attractions out there are the ruins of Inca Emperie. So you will need to walk a lot, don't mind with lots of dust, and of course, be prepared for a development country, where the services don't work always, as expected and people still don't have the best education at school.

I become particulary impressed with the Inca ruins and how the people there are proud of their origins and everything they builded in the past. The views are amazing and the people very friendly.

Last November (2011) I was at US for a course and got the opportunity for 10 days vacations. This time I spend my time between New York City and Washington D.C.. I have no dobts that NYC is on my list of cities to comeback and spend much more time. All the places to go, to eat, to see, is an amazing place. Washington is a very cool place too, principle because of it's world importance. But NYC it's another story... below some photos. Hope you enjoy like I did.

I'll try to update my travel map with every city I visited. Hope you like. So far I've put my vacation to Europe at the end of 2009 and my travel to Chile in middle of 2011. You can see my travel map at the end of the blog.
In 2009 I spend a few weeks in Europe and USA. The Europe's part of the trip started at Frankfurt and went through Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels and finished in Paris, summing up 14 days (2 days in Frankfurt, and 3 days for each of the others). Before go to Europe, I spent two weeks between Chicago and Saint Charles (USA) as part of a training from my company.
